FIELD NOTES

How it was made

01

The music sets the clock.

There is no voice, so the music sets the clock and every hard cut is checked against the beat: all of them land within 0.73 frames of it.

02

Every space begins as a line.

The drawings were traced from the photographs and the planning lines drawn over the neighbourhood, built in FireNgine, our production system, and the same graphite line draws the logo at the end.

03

Three generated moments, measured.

The two sketch-to-render transitions, the pool's moving water and the cube turning from graphite to stone were generated. The straight lines in those clips were measured: a median 0.30° and 0.15° of tilt.

04

Delivered for the player.

1920 × 1080 at 30 fps, 30.0 s. The titles sit inside YouTube's player safe area, 652 to 873 px inside 56 to 888, with a worst contrast of 5.48:1 averaged over 5 frames; loudness −14.1 LUFS, true peak −1.2 dBTP.
