UGC ad for KOLDA(concept)

A UGC-style ad for Meta: three hooks on one body, a Feed cut, a 15-second cut and a product loop.

KOLDA is an invented brand and product, made for this portfolio. The runner's story is a dramatization, and every figure in the ad is fictitious. What was generated is listed at the end.

The brief

We sell the KOLDA Cold Roller: a solid steel ball on a navy silicone handle that lives in the freezer. Our buyers are recreational runners in their late twenties to forties who ice a sore knee after long runs, usually with a bag of frozen peas. We need a UGC-style ad for Meta (Reels and Feed) that explains, to someone who knows nothing about it, why the knee hurts and why cold steel helps for a while, without promising a cure. First person, in voice-over. Three hook variants on one body to test, a 4:5 cut for the Feed, a 15-second cut, and a short loop for our product page. English, burned-in captions, loud enough for Reels, readable with the sound off.

Three openings, one body

Each hook changes the picture and the text from frame 0, and all three show the product before second 5.

Process

01

Write the idea before downloading anything.

The central idea, the list of materials and the product design were written first, before a single file was downloaded or generated. The piece in one sentence: a runner tells, without talking to camera, how she lives with runner's knee and why there's a steel ball in her freezer; two household images explain it to someone who knows nothing, and it ends honestly: the roller takes the edge off, the exercises fixed the knee.

THE PIECE IN ONE SENTENCE

A runner tells, without talking to camera, how she lives with runner's knee and why there's a steel ball in her freezer; two household images explain it to someone who knows nothing, and it ends honestly: the roller takes the edge off, the exercises fixed the knee.

WHAT THE VIEWER FEELS

FIRST SECOND

One runner and her knee.

15 S

Oh, that's runner's knee.

35 S

Her own doubt, said before they think it: peas are cold too.

55 S

Why steel: the metal bench. And the physical proof: frost on the real product.

END

Trust, because nothing is promised; an invitation with a condition: if you run.

02

Design the product before generating it.

A 50 mm satin steel ball in a navy cup with a thin polished ring, a navy handle with a gentle waist, no text on the product. One master frame first; every other view and clip was generated from it and measured against it.

03

Hang every cut on a word.

The edit is a plan: every cut lands two frames before its word, and every graphic enters on the word that names it. Word timings come from forced alignment, checked against the audio's own onsets: across 317 words, the two methods sit a median 27 ms apart.

04

Explain beside the leg.

In the second round, the knee graphic moved off the leg: a thin ring stays on the real knee and a still side-view diagram explains beside it. It now covers 2.6% of the knee, down from 20.5%, and 71% of what's on screen stands still.

ROUND 2
05

Make every sound earn its shot.

Every effect now plays only over the image that justifies it and ends with it. In the 101-second version, effects over unrelated shots went from 34 s to 0 s.

06

Keep the person in the frame.

In the third round, every shot with a person was measured on the crop the render really uses, with pose and face detection: the head, the face, and the part of the body the voice is talking about. In the version with hook (a), shots with the person's head out of frame went from 8 to 0, and shots with that action out of frame from 9 to 0 (in the Feed cut, 4 and 5 to 0). The shot flagged in review: her head inside in 0 of 27 measured frames before, in all 27 now.

07

Look at every frame.

Twelve-frame strips at every cut and every graphic, close-ups of the product and the text. Four versions before delivery, each fixed in the plan and rendered again from it.

The product stays the same across every generated image and clip and the 3D loop, in all of them but one: the freezer still measured ΔE2000 10.42 against a limit of 10 (the drawer's cold light makes the navy read lighter; with the light neutralized against the steel ball, 3.99). It's reported as a failed check, with its number. didn't pass

The loop joins: its first and last frames differ like any other step of the turn (1.23 levels; the median step is 1.27).

The second round, measured before and after: the knee graphic covers 2.6% of the knee (20.5% before); sound effects over unrelated shots, 0 s (34 s before); every comparison matches the voice in the same second (four of nine didn't).

Hours: about one working day of production in all, across the first delivery and two rounds of notes, material and the 3D loop included.

No CTR, ROAS or retention: the ad has not run.

What we did

Script (on two research reports: how 113 live ads in the category are built, and how these scripts are written), direction, edit, motion, sound and the product design. The voice, the edit, every graphic (19 code-rendered components), the mix and the 3D loop were made in FireNgine, our production system.

Provenance

Generated: the person, the product shots and the voice. The rest is licensed or made in FireNgine.
